We didn’t start as a tourism company. We started as friends who knew every back road and every hidden waterfall, and figured we should share it. A decade later, we still travel that way.
Puma Expeditions is a Costa Rican company offering private tours and premium transportation anywhere in the country, from Guanacaste and La Fortuna to Monteverde, Manuel Antonio and the Caribbean coast.
Every trip is private, just you and your group, with a bilingual local guide who also drives. That means no shared shuttles, no waiting on strangers, and someone beside you who can explain what you’re seeing, recommend where to eat, and stop when something is worth stopping for.
We can pick you up at the airport, move you between destinations, build a tour into your transfer so the drive becomes part of the trip, or stay with you for the full day.
We are part of a travel group with more than 24 years in the industry, so behind the new name there are decades of roads, trails and early pickups.

Around twelve years in Costa Rican tourism. On the drive between Guanacaste and Arenal he points out how fast the landscape and climate change, and shares the history of both regions along the way. His picks: the Palo Verde boat safari and Rincón de la Vieja's Pailas trail.
Kevin Arias
Naturalist Guide · 20 years
Twenty years guiding Costa Rica as a general and naturalist guide, with a special passion for botany: he points out plant adaptations, ecological relationships and the quiet work that trees, flowers and lianas do in the ecosystem. His favorite day is Palo Verde, where wildlife, tropical wetlands, cultural traditions and history meet — and the birdlife is spectacular.

Driver Guide · 22 years
Twenty-two years in tourism, from restaurants to tour sales to driving and guiding. Místico is his favorite trail: rich in wildlife, easy to walk, and full of the forest's secrets. On transfers north he loves the moment the dry Pacific crosses an invisible line into rainforest green.

Katherine's favorite is Rincón de la Vieja National Park, where walking the trails while hearing and seeing the park's plants and wildlife brings a deep sense of peace. With guests, Katherine loves talking about what a beautiful country Costa Rica is, and its incredible green.

Fourteen years in the tourism industry. Yerilin's favorite is the Sensoria tour, for its natural hot springs in the middle of the forest, surrounded by peace, plants and wildlife. With guests, Yerilin loves explaining what it means to be Tico and why we say “Pura Vida”, along with everything Costa Rica offers in climates, plants and wildlife.
