Discover the rescue work of Proyecto Asís and get a closer look at sloths at its dedicated sanctuary, with a traditional Costa Rican lunch included.

Visit Proyecto Asís, a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center dedicated to the care and recovery of Costa Rica's native animals. The experience begins with an introduction to the center's work, followed by a guided walk along the reserve's trails, where your guide shares the story of each animal you meet, how it arrived at the center, and why conservation matters.

The visit continues at the Sloth Sanctuary, a space dedicated to one of Costa Rica's most recognized animals. Learn what makes sloths so well adapted to life in the trees, from their slow metabolism to their close relationship with the forest canopy, and what their biology reveals about evolution and sustainability. Your guide explains the challenges sloths face in the wild and the work the center does to rehabilitate them.

A traditional Costa Rican lunch is included. Ideal for families, couples, and anyone with an interest in wildlife, this experience offers a closer understanding of sloths and the conservation effort behind their protection.

    Daniel Alvarado

    Driver Guide · ES, EN

Around twelve years in Costa Rican tourism. On the drive between Guanacaste and Arenal he points out how fast the landscape and climate change, and shares the history of both regions along the way. His picks: the Palo Verde boat safari and Rincón de la Vieja's Pailas trail.

  • Kevin Arias, Naturalist Guide at Puma Expeditions

    Kevin Arias

    Naturalist Guide · ES, EN

Twenty years guiding Costa Rica as a general and naturalist guide, with a special passion for botany: he points out plant adaptations, ecological relationships and the quiet work that trees, flowers and lianas do in the ecosystem. His favorite day is Palo Verde, where wildlife, tropical wetlands, cultural traditions and history meet — and the birdlife is spectacular.

  • Ronny Bonilla, Driver Guide at Puma Expeditions

    Ronny Bonilla

    Driver Guide · ES, EN

Twenty-two years in tourism, from restaurants to tour sales to driving and guiding. Místico is his favorite trail: rich in wildlife, easy to walk, and full of the forest's secrets. On transfers north he loves the moment the dry Pacific crosses an invisible line into rainforest green.
