Visit Proyecto Asís, a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center where you not only observe the animals in its care but also take part in their daily recovery. The experience begins with an introduction to the center's work, followed by a guided walk along the reserve's trails. At each stop, your guide shares the story of the animals you meet, how they arrived at the center, and why conservation matters for Costa Rica's wildlife.
After a snack, the volunteer portion begins. Learn how staff prepare each animal's diet and why proper nutrition is central to animal welfare, then help build enrichment toys designed to encourage natural behaviors and keep each species active and engaged. Feeding is done by trained staff only, following Ministry of Environment guidelines, and you will observe the process from a distance for the animals scheduled that day.
A traditional Costa Rican lunch is included. Recommended for all ages and especially well suited to families with younger children, this experience offers a hands-on look at the care that goes into returning rescued animals to the wild.
