Pair a guided walk across Mistico Park’s hanging bridges with a soak in the natural hot springs of Ecotermales, ending with a meal made from fresh, local ingredients.

Combine a morning above the rainforest with an afternoon of relaxation in La Fortuna's natural hot springs. Begin at Mistico Park, following a 3-kilometer (2-mile) trail that crosses 16 bridges, six of them suspended high above the rainforest canopy, with views of Arenal Volcano and the surrounding forest. Your naturalist guide will help you spot sloths, monkeys, birds, and frogs along the way.

Continue to Ecotermales, a secluded hot springs set in a natural forest sanctuary near Arenal. Relax in several 100% natural pools fed by geothermal water rising from beneath the volcano, cleaned twice daily and surrounded by tropical vegetation.

The experience concludes with a lunch or dinner at Ecotermales' restaurant, prepared with fresh ingredients from its organic garden and local producers. Ideal for couples, families, and travelers looking for an easygoing day, this experience pairs the rainforest canopy with one of the Arenal region's most peaceful hot springs.

    Driver Guide · ES, EN

Around twelve years in Costa Rican tourism. On the drive between Guanacaste and Arenal he points out how fast the landscape and climate change, and shares the history of both regions along the way. His picks: the Palo Verde boat safari and Rincón de la Vieja's Pailas trail.

  • Kevin Arias, Naturalist Guide at Puma Expeditions

    Kevin Arias

    Naturalist Guide · ES, EN

Twenty years guiding Costa Rica as a general and naturalist guide, with a special passion for botany: he points out plant adaptations, ecological relationships and the quiet work that trees, flowers and lianas do in the ecosystem. His favorite day is Palo Verde, where wildlife, tropical wetlands, cultural traditions and history meet — and the birdlife is spectacular.

  • Ronny Bonilla, Driver Guide at Puma Expeditions

    Ronny Bonilla

Twenty-two years in tourism, from restaurants to tour sales to driving and guiding. Místico is his favorite trail: rich in wildlife, easy to walk, and full of the forest's secrets. On transfers north he loves the moment the dry Pacific crosses an invisible line into rainforest green.
